About the Capital District Trail Network

The region is at the nexus of the 750-mile New York Empire State Trail. The Empire State Trail connects New York City with the Canadian Border via the Hudson River Valley Greenway and Champlain Canal Trail, and Albany with Buffalo via the Erie Canlway. It serves as the backbone of the Capital Region's nearly 200-mile trail system that attracts about 2-million users each year.

CDTC collects trail user data regularly. A trail count can be requested by completing this form

Creating a seamless network of regional trails throughout all four counties included in the CDTC area is a key priority of the New Visions 2050 Plan
