On August 27, 2020, CDTC and CDRPC co-sponsored a webinar event titled Open Streets in the Capital Region: Opportunities out of COVID-19 Challenges. This session provided insights and information from the City of Albany, City of Troy and Village of Ballston Spa on their experiences with implementing open streets programs to provide “streateries”, recreation, and public art on their local streets. As a follow up and ongoing resource, CDTC established the Open Streets Resources webpage to catalog of best practices, design options and ideas for expanding the open streets concept beyond the establishment of outdoor dining. We intend to continually add content to this page as communities plan for 2021 and a recording of the webinar is also available for viewing.
