MIST Data

 

S. Nampoothiri described the information contained in NYSDOT’s MIST data and how CDTC is in the process of extracting and analyzing the data for planning implications.  C. Lawson suggested integrating the data into GIS.

 

 

 

I-87 Corridor Study

 

T. Thompson and J. Purvis noted that 6 meetings/workshops took place and a final product is expected sometime this summer.

 

Port of Albany-PIDN

 

J. Purvis noted that the container barge service is continues to grow, with another record breaking day in April with 166 containers round trip.  T. Thompson noted that the Port has a balanced import/export ratio.  He noted that this is very rare and that the Albany Port is more active in the PIDN than the Philadelphia Port. 

 

Railroad Abandonment –Voorheesville

 

J. Purvis reported that Albany County is still working on trying to take ownership of the recently abandoned line from Voorheesville to Albany.

 

New Visions 2030

 

J. Purvis lead a review of comments received.  The comments were accepted for inclusion in the technical memo.

 

Member Updates/Current Events

 

 

NYSDOT – T. Thompson noted that the Town of Colonie is looking at eliminating two at-grade crossings on Morris and Cordell.  Dan Burden will be brought in for a Public Charette.

 

Work on the at-grade crossing at Lincoln is progressing.

 

Albany Airport – S. Iachetta reported that the Airport has an overall potential to expand its freight operations.  Increased tonnage has occurred every year and enplanements are up.  The Airport is losing mail carriers

 

SUNY Albany – C. Lawson reported that she will be chairing the 2nd Quebec/NY Summit in Montreal on May 14th
