CDTC's safety planning initiatives have been evolving over the last 10 years as crash data availability and quality has increased significantly. In 2017, CDTC will embark on the development of a Regional Safety Action Plan which will evaluate the regional crash data to aid in identifying both site specific and system level safety project candidates to compete for Highway Safety Improvement Program funds.

The role of CDTC in security planning continues through involvement with Local Emergency Planning Committees (LEPC) at the county level. CDTC provides modeling assistance for evacuation planning for law enforcement agencies. CDTC expects to expand security planning efforts over the next two years.
