ANNOUNCEMENT! As of June 1, 2023, we are now the Capital Region Transportation Council.    Learn more

Equity Advisory Committee meetings are open to the public.

The Equity Advisory Committee works to ensure the Transportation Council’s conformance with Title VI regulations and Environmental Justice. For more information, see this summary of the group's activities. It makes certain that the Transportation Council takes reasonable steps to secure access to opportunities that ensure no person is denied benefits of the Transportation Council’s planning process on the basis of minority and/or low income status, and to identify and address disproportionately high and adverse human health or environmental effects of the Transportation Council’s programs, policies, and activities on minority and low-income populations. It accomplishes this in part by promoting collaborative problem solving on issues related to Environmental Justice and Title VI, and providing input on the most effective methods to engage and respond to Environmental Justice and Title VI populations.

Focus Groups on Transportation System Gaps

In 2018, the Equity Advisory Committee worked with Sage Shoppe, LLC to facilitate focus groups to discuss gaps people experience in the Capital Region’s transportation system, with a focus on people often not represented in the transportation planning process.

Job Access in New York's Capital Region

The Equity Advisory Committee collaborated with CDTC staff to develop the Job Access in New York's Capital Region report, which looks at how land use, job locations and commuting options affect access to jobs in the Capital Region. The report was inspired by the one completed for the Rochester metropolitan region, Transportation and Poverty in Monroe County.
