FREIGHT TASK FORCE

ATTENDANCE: Dick Corp (NYSTA), Ted Thompson (NYSDOT Region One), Pat McLaughlin (UPS), Daniel McCormack (NYSMTA), John Lemmerman (NYSDOT Freight Transport), John Denison (CP Rail Systems), Tom Magliocca (Albany Port Commission), Kristina Younger (CDTC)

DISCUSSION SUMMARY:

Status Reports: A major public workshop on New Visions will occur on Tuesday, December 12, starting at 1 PM at the Omni Hotel in downtown Albany. Task Force members are strongly encouraged to attend.

Invitations to the Highway Users Federation Annual Meeting will be sent under separate cover to all task force members.

Review of Changes to Draft Report: Proposed changes outlined in the memo included in the mailout were agreed to. Other discussion points/comments included:

* New Executive Summary "works".

* Revised Action #4 was acceptable.

* Draft Trucking Inventory will be modified as follows:

+ Hide address and contact information for presentation in the report. Continue to include contact information in the database, available upon request.

+ Delete Revenue Column.

+ Retain Fleet Size column, but use categories: Small (1 - 15 trucks), Medium (15-50 trucks), and Large (>50 trucks)

+ Retain headquarters, Capital District Terminal Location, and major products columns.

+ Delete Geographic Area served column.

+ Separate private carriers from the for-hire companies, as an additional part of the inventory.

Task Force members most directly involved in trucking will provide input which will likely be sufficient to bring the inventory up to snuff for inclusion in the report.

Appreciation to CDTC staff was expressed for the completion of the report. Appreciation to task Force member was expressed by the distribution of New Visions coffee mugs to those present.

ACTION ITEMS:

* Additional comments on Trucking Inventory due by November 1 to Kristina.

* NEXT MEETING: Monday, January 22, 1996, 2 - 4 PM, CDTC Offices. Agenda to include: New Visions Workbook, member updates, new business.

* PUBLIC WORKSHOP: Tuesday, December 12, 1 - 6 PM (including reception), Omni Hotel, downtown Albany. Overall New Visions conference.
