1.0 AGENDA AND MEETING NOTES REVIEW

The minutes from November’s meeting were approved without changes.

2.0 MAJOR DISCUSSION

2.1 Maxwell Road Reconstruction: D. Jukins gave an overview of the planned reconstruction of Maxwell Road, including the intersection improvements at Albany Shaker Road.  Currently this intersection has a high number of crashes and is difficult for bicycles and pedestrians.  The original proposal which was developed approximately ten years ago, planned on moving the intersection further to the east to increase the distance from the Albany Shaker Road and Wolf Road intersection.  The existing plan for reconstruction has evolved into more of a bike/ped focus with safety accommodations and connections to the town library and The Crossings Park.  The original plan began as a traditional intersection with approximately 900-1000 feet of transition lanes extending back into residential areas.  In the existing plan, NYSDOT has recommended a Roundabout at the intersection of Albany Shaker Road and the new realigned Maxwell Road.  New access to the town library and a cul-de-sac to dead end a portion of the existing Maxwell Road will be added. The old intersection of Maxwell Road and Albany Shaker Road, near the Times Union will be restricted to rights in, rights out only.  Sidewalks will be added to both sides of Albany Shaker Road, as well as “Old” Maxwell Road.

Although the intersection of Wolf Road and Albany Shaker Road is not part of this project, bike/ped improvements are being looked into for future implementation.
