Director of Regional Planning

The Transportation Council is seeking a Director of Regional Planning to be responsible for assisting the Executive Director with supervising senior and junior staff, serving as a lead Task Manager for regional land use and transportation planning programs, and preparing and implementing the Transportation Council’s Metropolitan Transportation Plan. The Director or Regional Planning will be supervised by the Executive Director and is expected to lead the regional planning team toward its successful and timely completion of multiple programs and work tasks concurrently. We are seeking a transportation planner, specializing in sustainable transportation planning, to support the development and implementation of the region’s Metropolitan Transportation Plan, development of a Carbon Reduction Strategy, and implementation of Clean Cities programs. Clean Cities is a US Department of Energy program with a network of coalitions that provide educational and networking opportunities on alternative fuels, advanced vehicle technologies and alternative fuel vehicles. The Transportation Council hosts the Capital District Clean Communities Coalition. The transportation planner will be supervised by the Executive Director and senior staff and is expected to work in a team environment, capable of managing multiple tasks concurrently. The transportation planner will spend a minimum of 50% of work time on Clean Cities initiatives. Ideal candidates are excellent communicators, self-starters, motivators, and leaders.
